shake it up.
if there is one thing i have been learning over the past few months, it is this:
shake it up!
this concept came to me in a rather obvious way. i work in an aqueous geochemistry lab at my school. one of my tasks is to rotoevaporate water samples from rivers and soils and trenches and such. which basically is fancy terminogloy for watching water evaporate in vacuum pressure and 50 degree baths. ok, sorry that can get boring. but i made a fairly critical error for the first 7 or so samples that i processed. i forgot to shake them. seems trivial huh?
but shaking them does SO MUCH for quality control and the overall analysis of the data. and then, suddenly, it made sense. not only is it important to pay close attention to the details, but it is even more important to shake it up. otherwise you end up sitting where ever it is that you usually sit and that is that. don’t get me wrong, sitting is nice. being mellow is awesome. but if we don’t shake things up, then how can we ever change directions or live better lifestyles? the big and small things alike!
like how we deal with our overwhelming trash production as humans, how we treat our significant others, how we deal with our policy makers, how we drink our orange juice in the morning….
because even though every situation doesn’t call for shaking, so many situations have been sitting around the same way for so long that we forgot that it wasn’t just going to be shaken up by chance, but rather it is our responsibility to do the shaking!
so shake that butt! shake hands! shake up the status quo!
anyways, that is the best i can do for now in expressing this epiphany of mine. have a terrific tuesday! go change the monotony of things! let’s make this world better for better’s sake! shake shake shake!
