mayness greatness!
The past three weeks have been totally nutso! We have been traveling ALL around California playing shows, hanging with wonderful people, and adventuring in beautiful places.
We played seven shows in Davis, Oakland, Napa, Los Angeles, and Groveland and in-between shows I had to book it back to Davis to go to class and take my last midterms ever (!), snuggle my cats for a minute, and catch up in the lab. I have been learning so much about camping and sleeping and appreciating where I am in time and space.
Here is a quick photo recap of the adventures :) Of course, my wonderful sister, Sé Reed, has been tromping the state with me too. We love it and can’t wait to spread the love and adventures into more states!
Then we played the Patchwork Indie Arts and Craft Festival in Oakland. I LOVE the ladies that run Patchwork — Delilah Snell and Nicole Stevenson. Patchwork is this totally awesome DIY festivals of all sorts of vendors and they do it in various cities in CA! I’ve played the Long Beach shindig and Oakland was super refreshing and wonderful. We basically had a crowd of insanely adorable children that were so fun and so into it and made my heart light and my mind at ease. Kids have a way with whimsical, ya know?
Then we headed up to Napa to meet up with Rami Jaffee, my producer and magical musician friend, and a bunch of his friends, including the awesome Jonny Kaplan and Jessy Greene! They are wonderful and you should check out their new projects. They are musicians of love and there is no one better to travel through vineyards and redwoods with. :) We played a private Bottlerock afterparty show in a beautiful redwood forest …
After Napa, I went back to Davis to take my last two midterms ever, then it was off to LA for a studio showcase. I drove down with my homies, VerBS and Mike (my bass player). They are both bomb and I love hanging with them. VerBS came up to Davis to play the KDVS ORMF festival. He owned it and we had a great ride back :)
I made the trek back to Davis again for another two days of studying. Then we packed up for Groveland (near Yosemite) to open Friday *and* Saturday night at the Iron Door Saloon for Jonny Kaplan and the Lazy Stars. The Iron Door is the oldest bar in California!! They have a long, proud history of serving liquor to miners. Heh. get it?
We kicked it at the waterfall and river Rainbow Pool for the day on Saturday!
That night we played an epic show to end our month of madness! So much love, fun, music, and trees! I even became a member of team zissou, declared by VerBS himself!
Thanks for the support and love everyone! We can’t wait to update you on our summer plans! Coming SOOOON!
