LA homies
Yo yo yo!
As some of you may know, I am currently living in LA. I am working as a groundwater sampling technician (which I will explain in more detail another time) and I am doing a bunch of music things!
Since I’ve been in town, I have been able to go to see my super awesome crew of music making homies play in LA! And now I want to share their awesomeness with you, because yay! Good music!
Here are the homies (in no particular order)!
Thick As Thieves
You wanna see a real rock show with funky harmonies, badass musicians, and a rapper? Boom. Check out Thick as Thieves. Sunday Lane (who is also 1/2 of the intensely awesome Fauntella Crow and even does her own super cool solo stuff) is one of the lead singers/songwriters for this group and she and the whole band kill it. They are for sure rocking life and stages all over the place. be ready for them in 2014!!
The Native Sibling
Kaylee Williams, and her brother Ryan are The Native Sibling. They hit a depth of feeling in my soul that no band has ever done for me before. They are also the sweetest, most wonderful people you will ever meet! They have been playing all over LA and they have a brand new album coming out in the spring! Buy it!
James Alan
James is raw and saucy and awesome. His vocals knock me out every time I hear him sing. A really great, feel good knock out! We caught his recent show at the Bootleg Theatre and he played a bunch of new material that really stood out, both lyrically and musically! You may have already seen him on the YouTubes because he has a bunch of amazing cover videos (including this mashup which will get stuck in your head for days. You have been warned!).
VerBS
I love VerBS! Kyle and I have been homies for many years now and he is one of the realest, most loving people I’ve ever met! Plus he is always telling people to drink water! I hadn’t seen a VerBS show in a while, so it was great to catch his jumping, bumping, super-duper fun gig at The Smell in LA. He kills the rap game like no one else. One of my favorite VerBS lyrics: “happiness is only what you define”
Shane Alexander
This songwriter is like my legend homie. I had the privilege to open for him at the last Zoey’s Cafe show ever (read about that show here) and we caught his show at Hotel Cafe recently. He is folkpopindierock through and through. His whole aura is magical and if you haven’t heard his tunes, fix that now!
Whew! So much goodness!! Please please support these amazing people and their wonderful talents!!
